Saleem Movie ~ Review

Rating: 2.75/5

What it’s all about?
The film Saleem is the story of an international gangster who is smitten by a beautiful girl. He comes to India in search of her and how he wins over her love, despite stiff resistance by her is the story.

The plot:
The plot is long winding and confusing. Saleem (Vishnu) is an international gangster. He bumps into Sathya (Ileana) in Bangkok, Dubai and Europe. Saleem is convinced that it is not mere coincidence and that Sathya is made for her. So he follows her all the way to India. Saleem wins over the hearts of Sathya’s family members and starts wooing her.

Sathya fools Saleem by acting as if she too has fallen in love with him. Sathya has been brought up in Europe as her father does not want her to be killed as he has a rival in Mukesh Rushi. Mukesh’s only aim in life is to destroy the family of Sathya.

Saleem learns about the evil designs of Mukesh Rushi and foils all his plans to harm Sathya and her family. Sathya’s father is so impressed with Saleem that he offers his daughter’s hand to him.

While the marriage arrangements are on. Sathya runs way from home. She has eloped with Venkat, a gangster in Europe. Sathya wants to marry Venkat and live in Europe. Venkat is the younger brother of Ogirala Jogaiah (Mohan Babu) a dreaded gangster.

Saleem arrives in Europe to take Sathya back and unite her with her family. Saleem is confronted by OJ and a defiant Sathya who is about to marry Venkat. The rest of the story is how Saleem manages to achieve his objective.

The actors:
Vishnu looks stylish and confident in the film. He looks great in trendy costumes. He however is still not up to the mark in the acting department. Mohan Babu gets a lot of build up but it fizzles out very fast. Venkat is okay. Ileana is used only to show off her hour glass figure and she does not disappoint. Kaveri Jha too gives a tough competition to Ileana as far as exposing goes.

Napoleon is dignified while the other star cast from Jayaprakash Reddy to MS Narayana, Tanikella Bharani, Ali, Mukesh Rushi etc are okay.

The bottom line:
Saleem is a film about love, joint family, values, integrity, revenge etc. etc. However director YVS Choudhary fails to build up the right tempo and make the film interesting.

Despite spending lavishly on costumes, locations and settings, Saleem ends up as a long winding and dull and drab fare.-Amma Productions.

Pravarakyudu Movie ~ Review

What's All About?

The film Pravarakhyudu is a story about the love and hate relationship between college students Jagapathi Babu and Priyamani. They go their separate ways after a misunderstanding only to meet again after 10 years. How they clear their misunderstandings and come together is the story.

The plot:
The story is set in a college. Sailaja (Priyamani) and Sasi (Jagapathi Babu) are classmates. While Sailaja is wooed by most of the college students Sasi justs laught over it. When Sailaja says ‘I Love You’ to Sasi, he takes it lightly. Sasi says that he does not believe in love but is ready to marry her if she is ready.

This angers Sailaja and she and Sasi part ways. Ten years pass by. Now Sasi is a professor in Harvard. Sailaja is a principal. Sailaja cannot forget Sasi and so she does not marry. Sasi comes to India in search of a suitable girl. He still cannot forget Sailaja and so starts enquiring about her. When he learns that she is still unmarried and working as a principal. Sasi joins the same college as a lecturer.

The intention of Sasi is very clear. His only task is to try and woo Sailaja and marry her. Will Sailaja fall to the charms of Sasi? If so, how and why? Watch this as it unfolds on the screen.

The actors:
The film is a Jagapathi Babu show all the way. He hogs the screen presence for a major part and does a neat job. Jagapathi Babu is really impressive as a lecturer. The way he goes about wooing Priyamani s charming and interesting.

Priyamani looks ravishingly beautiful. She also makes a good mark as the principal. Sunil plays Jagapathi Babu’s friend while Brahmanandam plays a college lecturer.

Ali makes a brief appearance in the get up of a tribesman in Africa. He manages to raise a few laughs. The rest from Chalapathi Rao to Rajyalakshmi and Dharmavarapu are okay.

The bottom line:
The music is okay and the story and screenplay quite interesting. Director Manages to weave an interesting love story. He handles the adult relationships quite well. The film is a bit slow and dull in the first half but picks up pace and interest in the second half.

Pravarakhyudu may not offer anything new but it still manages to hold your interest for a couple of hours. Okay for a one time watch.- Amma Productions

Amaravathi Telugu Movie ~ Review

Ravi babu starrer Amaravathi movie started with lots of violence and Tarak’s role in the movie is predictable. Bhoomika made audience laugh and she had a crazy charecter. The sound effects by Ethiraj is very good. Some scenes are very thrilling and it makes that we are watching a Hollywood movie.

Overall the movie is good and this type of story have never been explored in Tollywood Industry.

What it’s all about?
Amaravathi is suspense and horror film from actor turned director Ravi Babu. The film is not meant to scare but only evoke fear and suspense. Ravi Babu has succeeded to a large extent in his mission.

The plot:
The plot is a bit scary but interesting. An unknown person causes tension and havoc in the city by snatching babies. The person does not snatch babies from the cradle but form the wombs of pregnant women! This is the scary part of the film. The case torments the police force and a clever police officer Venkat (Ravi Babu) is assigned with the task of cracking the case.

Ravi Babu is married to Latha (Sneha) and she too is nine months pregnant. Will the maniacal person attack Latha too and snatch away her baby? Who is the unknown and scary person? Where does he hail from and what are his motives.

Who is Amaravathi? How is she related to the maniac guy Seenu (Tarakarathna) and why is he doing all this? Amaravathi is suspense cum horror film and as such the story cannot be revealed but must be watched on the screen.

The actors:
While Ravi Babu lays the key role of a cop in the task force, it is Tarakarathna as the maniacal and deadly guy who steals the thunder in the film. Tarakarathna who has played hero in all his films so far turns villain in this film. He does come up with an impressive performance and is sure to make a mark with this one.

Ravi Babu is cool in his role as a STF officer. Sneha plays Ravi Babu’ lover and wife and she does a neat job. Bhumika plays a brief but important role of Amaravathi. Kota Srinivasa Rao is seen in a brief role as a psychiatrist cum hypnotist. Gade Sindhura looks stylish as a STF officer.

The bottom line:
Amaravathi is a decent suspense thriller that is meant to not just scarce the audience but also entertains as well as educate them. Ravi Babu has been inspired to a large extent from Hollywood flicks. There are no songs in the film.

The story is new and the screenplay racy enough to keep up the tempo. The music and the background score complement the scary aspect of the movie quite well.

Finally Amaravathi is a film that will appeal only to those who enjoy suspense and horror flicks. The film offers very little for the regular audience. - Amma Productions.

Aarya Movie - Review

Film: Arya2

Banner: Aditya Arts
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Allu Arjun, Kajal, Navadeep, Sraddha Arya, Ajay, Erina, Brahmanandam, and others
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Chandrabose, Vanamali
Art: Chinna
Producer: Aditya Babu
Director: Sukumar
Release date: 27th November 2009

Sequel culture has started in Telugu film industry way back many years but still, that’s bringing in bigger hype. When something is made as sequel or flavor of a hit film title and cast, the expectations are soaring high. Now Arya-2 has seen light. Let us see how it’s received by audiences.

Story:
It’s the story of two friends Arya (Arjun) and Ajay (Navadeep) who fall in love with same girl Geeta (Kajal).
Arya’s possessiveness for Ajay is the underlined aspect in this movie. But Ajay never likes Arya. Despite, he places him in his company for not being able to bear his torture.
Geeta comes as colleague in their office and story starts from then. But Rajireddy (Mukesh Rishi), the father of Geeta arranges her marriage with the son of another factionist. Arya takes the responsibility to cancel that wedding and enters the village. He says to Ajay that he would bring Geeta for him. How things turn from there…falls rest of the plot.

Performances:
Allu Arjun appeared confusing in the film. His obsession for his friend Ajay has projected him on the lines of a ‘gay’, and many in theatre shouted the word! That’s because of mishandling of narration. On the other hand his contrast in characterization is disgusting. Sometimes he looks convincing and many times confusing. Director should be questioned for that.
Although Navadeep is a very able actor in delivering histrionics he was not given that chance by the director. His character remained dull through out.
Kajal looked innocent, beautiful and charming while Shraddha Das glued some oozing glamour to screen.
‘Ringa Ringa..’ girl has got glowing skin but lacked in raunchy appeal that’s required for an item girl. Others are ok in their shoes.
While every department worked with all dedication it’s the flaw of director that marred the film. Cinematography, Choreography and Music stood high but the director made a confused concoction and ruined entire show. He got confused with screenplay part in second half.

Highlights:
Allu Arjun’s energy levels
Music
Dances by Arjun

Limitations:
Director’s mishandling
Lack of required comedy
Confused screenplay and dialogue

Analysis:
It’s the movie released with many expectations but finally ended up as a disappointment. The masses in theatres yelled like hell when the show has begun but slowly turned pale and passive as the movie is rolling on.
Many are seen walking out of theatres either for a puff of smoke or relax in rest rooms especially in second half. First half is a bit ok. Only songs stood as saving grace by the virtue of Allu Arjun’s dances and music.
Coming to the essence in the movie, it has given many negative signs on a whole: The following doubts would light in the minds of audience:
Is the protagonist a sadist or a gay or a mentally imbalanced one?
Is the heroine character-less who runs behind any man who sheds tears for her?
Is the director conveying that marriage ritual has no significance?
Is the director introducing the wife-swapping subject on Telugu screen?
Is the director confused totally?
The first day morning show has given a signal that it’s going to be thumbs down in B,C centers. But A centers may find some oxygen. On a whole it’s a disappointment.

Bottom Line: Disappointment
